In our energy topic we learned about fossil fuels. We found out that oil is used to make plastic. Fossil fuels like oil are not renewable and one day the world could run out of oil. That would mean that there would be no more plastic getting made.
Although we cannot renew oil, we can recycle plastic to make new plastic things.
We decided that we could help save the environment if we persuaded people to remember to recycle their plastic bottles. We wrote persuasive letters and made persuasive posters to encourage others to recycle.
We set up our own plastic bottle bank in the school. We gave each class a box to save their empty plastic juice and water bottles in. Every Friday we collect the bottles and count them. Then Mrs Brown our cleaner puts the bag out to be collected. We are pleased to be helping the environment.
We are going to try to collect 1000 bottles this year.
